Earlier today the popular blog Maryland Juice reported that Comptroller Peter Franchot will not run for governor and instead seek reelection.
The announcement today by Peter Franchot that he will not run for Governor of Maryland shocked me like I am sure it shocked others. I look forward to the spirited discussion about what is next for Maryland after Governor O’Malley steps down and thought Comptroller Franchot would be apart of it. Peter Franchot has been a strong leader in Maryland dedicated to moving our state forward. As Comptroller, Peter has made a balanced budget and proper investment paramount of his tenure. As a young person, a Democrat, and a Marylander, I am honored by his service and look forward to working with him should he be reelected.
Over the next few weeks and months many more potential candidates will make decisions on their future. I look forward to hearing the competing visions by these candidates and learning more about their ideas on how we continue Maryland’s progress.
