PGCPS CEO Search Committee begins stakeholder meetings

The Search Committee charged with finding the new Prince George’s County Public Schools CEO begins their work this week by meeting with stakeholders on June 5th at 4:30. Community and parent groups will appear before the committee first starting at 4:30 and elected officials at 5:45 are invited to submit their input. Both meetings will be held at the Prince George’s Community College.

For more information or to get information on attending contact Dr. Charlene Dukes, President of the Prince George’s Community College & Maryland State Board of Education, also serves as Chair of the Search Committee. She will preside over the meeting.

The meeting of the special search committee comes in response to the newly passed school reform law. Under the law the committee, appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley, will lead a search that ends in three names submitted to County Executive Rushern Baker. Baker will then select one of the three finalist as the next Chief Executive Officer who then answers to the Board of Education.
