I think I am one of the few people in Prince George’s County who remains not sold on how magical the new PGCPS CEO Dr. Maxwell will be for the system. The issue isn’t that I don’t have faith in his ability to move the district forward, I think it is that I haven’t seen the goods. That could change soon. Dr. Maxwell has just announced, he will deliver his first State of the School’s Address on November 7th at Fredrick Douglas High School in Upper Marlboro (hmmm we hope that it is missing from the system’s online calendar is just an oversight).
The CEO is expected to layout details for his 6 month plan to reform the district, his goals for the first school year, and possibly outline budget objectives and priorities. It is a speech that anyone interested in public education should make sure they attend.
In Case You Go:
Date – November 7th (the same day 1st Quarter Report Cards will be released) at 7PM
Location – Fredrick Douglas High School, 8000 Croom Road, Upper Marlboro, Md 20772
